Emergency Health Coordinator – Global Surge Team

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking an Emergency Health Coordinator to join its Global Surge Team. This role provides leadership for rapid, high‑quality health responses in humanitarian emergencies, coordinating primary health, reproductive health, and nutrition services on short‑notice deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct integrated health assessments and deliver prioritized recommendations for program design and adaptation.
• Design and implement health response strategies, defining geographic focus and collaborating with internal and external partners.
• Draft technical proposals and budgets for international donors, working closely with IRC grants and finance teams.
• Ensure compliance with national and international health guidelines and uphold quality standards.
• Monitor and evaluate results‑based outcomes throughout the emergency response.

Required profile

• Proven experience in emergency health coordination or similar humanitarian roles.
• Ability to deploy to an emergency site within 72 hours of notification.
• Strong analytical skills to translate assessments into actionable program plans.
• Excellent collaboration skills with donors, government agencies, and NGOs.

Required skills

• Knowledge of primary health, reproductive health, and nutrition interventions in crisis settings.
• Familiarity with international humanitarian health standards and guidelines.
• Budget development and donor proposal writing.
