Emergency Environmental Health Coordinator – Global Surge Team

About the role

The Emergency Environmental Health Coordinator joins the International Rescue Committee’s Global Surge Team to lead high‑impact environmental health interventions in emergency settings. This role provides technical leadership for water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programming, ensuring rapid, safe, and dignified services for affected populations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct rapid assessments of water, sanitation and hygiene needs and prioritize interventions.
• Design and implement WASH response strategies, including safe water provision, latrine construction, and hygiene product distribution.
• Develop technical proposals and budgets for donor funding and ensure compliance with national and international standards.
• Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, producing results‑based reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate with local authorities, NGOs, and IRC country teams to align response activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in humanitarian WASH or environmental health programming.
• Ability to deploy to emergency sites within 72 hours and work in challenging field conditions.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with a focus on quality and accountability.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities across multicultural environments.
