About the role
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) at Saint Louis University is seeking a Product Manager to oversee its application stack. The role will ensure effective system usage, coordinate upgrades, and evaluate new features while supporting DPS staff in a hybrid work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with the product owner to align technology with evolving business requirements.
- Manage the full lifecycle of DPS applications, keeping them within vendor support windows.
- Provide tier‑2 support, troubleshoot software issues, and design appropriate solutions.
- Act as liaison between DPS users and IT services, assisting with equipment and integration needs.
- Develop and test SQL code, support relational database operations, and understand basic networking.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, redesign, or new policy development.
- Promote a culture of service, best practices, and cost‑effective management.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related field (or associate degree with 5+ years experience).
- 1‑3 years of relevant experience (or 5+ years for associate degree holders), preferably in higher education or public safety.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, collaboration and facilitation abilities.
- Proven negotiation skills and experience managing stakeholder relationships.
Required skills
- SQL development and querying.
- Understanding of relational databases.
- Basic networking concepts.
- Software integration experience.
