Research Associate – Drug‑Impaired Driving & Toxicology

About the role

The University of British Columbia’s Brubacher Laboratory and the Road Safety and Public Health Research Group are seeking a full‑time Research Associate to support and coordinate multiple research projects focused on drug‑impaired driving and toxic drug studies.

Key responsibilities

• Administer day‑to‑day operations of the National Drug Impaired Driving (DID) Study and the Toxic Drug Study.
• Supervise co‑op students and junior research assistants.
• Assist with data interpretation, result dissemination, and preparation of research deliverables.
• Manage procurement, bookkeeping, and project documentation.
• Stay current with empirical research on cannabis, alcohol, and driving, and contribute to the development of new research questions.

Required profile

• Motivated candidate with a strong interest in road safety, public health, and drug toxicology.
• Experience in coordinating research projects and supervising junior staff.
• Ability to interpret scientific data and communicate findings effectively.
• Excellent organizational and bookkeeping skills.
