About the role
The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Youth Program Assistant to support school‑aged refugee youth and their families in after‑school programs. Working 20 hours per week, you will split time between on‑site activities with students and remote administrative tasks.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑on‑one and group homework help, ensuring students grasp the material.
- Assist during workshop activities (theater, STEM, music, art, sports) to keep participants engaged.
- Support lead teachers with small‑group instruction and behavior management.
- Set up and clean up program materials daily.
- Handle clerical duties such as data entry, filing, scheduling, and documentation.
- Collaborate with staff to assess student needs and adjust support strategies.
- Conduct outreach to recruit eligible students and maintain contact with families via phone, text, or WhatsApp.
- Collect and analyze program data through surveys.
- Provide interpretation and translation services as needed.
Required profile
- Passionate, solutions‑driven individual committed to supporting refugee youth.
- Strong communication skills, including ability to interpret/translate.
- Comfortable working both in‑person and remotely.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
