Principal National Consultant – UN Country Analysis

About the role

The United Nations is seeking a Principal National Consultant to lead the Country Analysis (UNCA) for Kyrgyzstan. The consultant will coordinate the development of the analysis, synthesize inputs from UN agencies, government and development partners, and produce a comprehensive report aligned with the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and refine the UNCA methodology, workplan and structure.
• Review and synthesize existing analytical materials from UN agencies, national strategies, and development partners.
• Facilitate targeted consultations with government, UN agencies, civil society and the private sector.
• Integrate inputs into a coherent analytical narrative ensuring alignment with UNSDCF findings, national priorities and UN guiding principles.
• Draft, revise and present the UNCA report, including an inception report, first draft, and final version.
• Present findings to the UN Country Team, Standing Analytical Team and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading national development analyses or similar UN consultancy assignments.
• Strong understanding of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, national development priorities and UN guiding principles (Leave No One Behind, HRBA, gender equality, resilience, sustainability).
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and report‑writing skills.
