Assistant Buyer – Men's Modern & Women's Denim (18‑Month Contract)

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Buyer to support the Men’s Modern and Women’s Denim categories on an 18‑month contract. You will work closely with senior buyers and planners to drive sales, manage inventory and develop vendor relationships in a fast‑paced luxury retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor sales and margin performance, analysing variances against budget and forecast.
• Create and track purchase orders, manage open‑to‑buy reporting and ensure order accuracy.
• Follow up with vendors on confirmations, resolve distribution issues and support forecast preparation.
• Participate in monthly/seasonal markdown sessions and monitor stock levels for repeat orders and consolidations.
• Assist in pre‑market analysis, financial planning and seasonal business reviews with buyers and planners.
• Maintain sample inventory, coordinate trunk shows, special events and in‑store product knowledge sessions.
• Prepare store allocations, sales analysis, and recommendations for repeats, consolidations and RTVs.
• Build strong relationships with vendors and internal teams to achieve buying goals.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary degree or equivalent work experience.
• 1‑2 years of experience in retail buying or related field.
• Sound knowledge of purchasing principles and retail mathematics.
• Strong analytical abilities and proficiency with system‑based tools.
• Demonstrated leadership, influencing and teamwork skills.
