About the role
The Arabic/Sudanese Arabic Interpreter provides accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation services for Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals across a range of settings, including clinics, hospitals, schools, community organizations, and government agencies. Work may be performed in‑person, by telephone, videoconference, or other virtual platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver professional interpretation for LEP clients and service providers in diverse environments.
- Record assignments and work hours using the organization’s tracking software.
- Participate in required trainings, assessments, and occasional special projects.
- Maintain confidentiality and cultural sensitivity while building trust with clients and partners.
- Travel to appointment locations using reliable transportation.
Required profile
- High school diploma preferred; interpretation certification preferred.
- Relevant professional interpretation experience, especially with refugee or immigrant populations, is a plus.
- Fluent spoken Arabic (including Sudanese dialect) and strong English communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends.
Required skills
- Proficiency with basic computer applications, specifically Microsoft Office.
- Experience using assignment‑tracking software.
