About the role
The Technical Coordinator (Project Manager) will be based in the UNFPA Gambia Country Office and will lead the day‑to‑day operational management of a European Union‑funded project implemented with UNOPS and Expertise France. Reporting to the Country Representative, the incumbent will ensure that project activities are delivered on time, within budget and in line with the 2026‑2029 UNFPA Strategic Plan.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee daily implementation of the EU project, coordinating technical delivery of UNFPA‑led outputs such as Comprehensive Health Education, re‑entry programmes for girls and gender‑sensitive teacher training.
- Work closely with the project finance assistant in Banjul and the finance specialist in Brussels to monitor budget, expenditures and financial reporting.
- Lead the UNFPA technical team to achieve wellbeing, gender and community outcomes and to strengthen partnership networks.
- Ensure integration of project activities into national curricula and monitor compliance with UNFPA and EU guidelines.
- Prepare regular progress reports, risk assessments and contribute to strategic planning for the 2026‑2029 period.
Required profile
- University degree in public health, education, international development or a related field.
- Proven experience in managing EU‑funded projects or similar multi‑partner initiatives.
- Strong understanding of gender‑sensitive programming, health education and community‑based interventions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills, with ability to work in a multicultural environment.

- Fluency in English; knowledge of French is an asset.
