Store Design & Planning Designer (12‑Month Contract)

About the role

Holt Renfrew is seeking a Designer to support Store Design & Planning initiatives on a 12‑month contract basis. You will work closely with internal teams and external vendors to develop architectural and interior design solutions that align with the brand’s luxury retail strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Manager, Design & Planning and stakeholders to develop building designs, define project scope, and create design guidelines.
• Prepare and manage detailed budgets, recommend value‑engineering proposals, and ensure adherence to financial targets.
• Oversee design projects ranging from small capital improvements to large‑scale renovations and new builds.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, design firms, and cross‑functional teams (sales, marketing, IT) to deliver compliant and innovative store concepts.
• Maintain up‑to‑date store footprints, industry standards, and product innovation requirements.
• Ensure compliance with municipal, regional, and provincial building codes, including waste, fire, and safety regulations.
• Foster effective communication, teamwork, and conflict resolution among internal and external partners.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of project experience, including architectural contract administration and review of submittals and shop drawings.
• Proven track record delivering design, planning, and execution projects on time and within budget.
