Senior Quality Assurance Officer

About the role

Our client, a biotechnology company producing materials and reagents for human pharmaceuticals and veterinary use, is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Officer to join their cGMP‑compliant manufacturing site in Timaru. Reporting to the QA Manager, you will play a key part in maintaining product quality, regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, conduct and manage internal and external audits.
• Maintain and review controlled documentation in line with GMP standards.
• Support production teams with change control processes and non‑conformance investigations.
• Assist in the implementation and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology or a related science.
• Minimum 3 years of QA experience in a pharmaceutical or medical‑device environment.
• Proven experience with Quality Management Systems in a GMP setting.
• Experience managing internal audits and hosting external audits.
• Excellent written English and report‑writing skills.
• Strong initiative, ability to work independently and organise workload.
