Senior Projects Coordinator

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Senior Projects Coordinator to lead its Project Management Unit (PMU) within the Nigeria Country Program. This senior position provides strategic oversight of project implementation, ensuring that all initiatives are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with IRC and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the PMU, supervising staff and offering project management advisory support to field teams.
• Serve as the primary resource on project management systems, monitoring, and portfolio performance across all program locations.
• Maintain oversight of project progress against workplans, spending plans, and grant timelines, identifying risks and financial trends.
• Escalate implementation risks and financial concerns to the Deputy Director for Operations with analysis and corrective recommendations.
• Conduct regular portfolio performance analysis for field teams and senior management.
• Coordinate Budget vs Actuals analysis, post‑award Project Cycle Management meetings, and strengthen performance monitoring tools.
• Facilitate coordination among technical teams, field management, finance, and operations to ensure effective program delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading project management functions in a multi‑sector humanitarian or development environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial and performance data.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Capacity to supervise staff and build project management capabilities within teams.
