Public Safety Dispatcher (Night Shift)

About the role

The Public Safety Dispatcher provides 24/7 communication support for campus safety operations. Working the 11 pm – 7 am shift, you will receive emergency calls, dispatch police, fire or medical units, and monitor security systems to ensure a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and prioritize requests for public safety assistance, including police, fire, and medical services.
• Operate the base‑station radio, dispatch officers and other university service units, and relay messages via radio or telephone.
• Maintain a detailed communications log of telephone service requests, confidential materials, and crime reports.
• Monitor alarm systems and closed‑circuit television screens, and manage the department’s record‑keeping systems.
• Issue and track equipment used by field personnel, and assist visitors with directions.
• Prepare monthly activity reports and perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in a public‑facing role.
• Successful completion of background check and drug screening.
• Physical and psychological fitness to handle emergency situations.
