About the role
The University of British Columbia is seeking a qualified psychiatrist to join its Student Health Service. This role focuses on delivering comprehensive mental health care to undergraduate and graduate students, helping them overcome barriers to academic success.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for adolescents and early‑adult students.
- Integrate mental‑health care with existing student health resources and external community services.
- Support referral pathways, triage urgent cases, and act as the primary consultant for other health‑care providers within Student Health & Wellbeing.
- Contribute to the development and revision of policies, procedures, and programs related to psychiatry services.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with the Medical Director, primary‑care physicians, nurses, and community mental‑health agencies.
- Uphold anti‑racism, equity, diversity, and inclusion principles in all patient interactions.
Required profile
- Medical degree with board certification in psychiatry.
- Licensure to practice psychiatry in British Columbia.
- Experience working with adolescent and young‑adult populations, preferably in an academic or student‑health setting.
- Strong collaborative skills and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in clinical practice.
