Protection Officer – Child Protection

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Protection Officer specialized in Child Protection to lead Safe Healing and Learning Space (SHLS) activities and raise awareness on child protection within targeted communities in Myanmar. Reporting to the Protection Manager and supported by a child protection specialist, the role ensures safe, inclusive participation and high‑quality case management for children.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation of SHLS and disseminate child protection information in line with project objectives.
• Develop and execute monthly and quarterly work plans for child protection activities.
• Assist the Protection Manager in aligning work plans across sectors and maintaining internal integration.
• Maintain accurate beneficiary data, attendance records, activity logs, and monitoring information according to MEAL guidelines.
• Coordinate with focal points, attend team and coordination meetings, and support monitoring activities.
• Assess SHLS facilitators’ competencies, identify development needs, and provide training and mentorship.
• Deliver community awareness sessions and ensure activities are gender‑sensitive, inclusive, and accessible to children with disabilities.

• Myanmar national with a strong commitment to safeguarding principles and confidentiality.
• Solutions‑driven, passionate change‑maker able to work safely in targeted communities.
• Experience in child protection, community engagement, and case management.
• Ability to assess staff capacity, promote well‑being, and adhere to the organization’s Code of Conduct.
