Programme Management Officer

About the role

The United Nations Office of Counter‑Terrorism (UNOCT) is seeking a Programme Management Officer to support the implementation of capacity‑building projects for Member States across Central Asia. Based in Ashgabat, the role will contribute to the United Nations Global Counter‑Terrorism Strategy and regional frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Leverage political entry points to coordinate strategic programming through regional frameworks, including the Joint Plan of Action.
• Ensure projects are grounded in sound theories of change and coordinate standardized third‑party impact evaluations.
• Develop partnerships that promote a One UN System Approach.
• Engage closely with UNOCT substantive programme managers to support activity implementation in the region.
• Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes and projects, monitoring progress and proposing corrective actions.
• Conduct consulting assignments on counter‑terrorism and preventing violent extremism, including planning and facilitating workshops.
