Procurement and Supply Chain Officer

About the role

The Procurement and Supply Chain Officer will manage all country‑level procurement activities for Jhpiego’s MNCH‑N project in Burundi. This role ensures that goods and services are sourced efficiently, compliantly, and in line with program timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and regular updating of annual and quarterly procurement plans in collaboration with administrative, finance, and technical teams.
• Manage procurement of operational items such as office supplies, IT equipment, furniture, transportation, and services, ensuring competitive and cost‑effective sourcing.
• Oversee procurement of programmatic commodities including pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and clinical equipment, with attention to temperature‑sensitive handling when required.
• Prepare solicitation documents (RFQ, RFP, etc.), evaluate bids transparently, and negotiate contracts.
• Monitor vendor performance, maintain high‑quality documentation, and ensure readiness for internal and external audits.
• Ensure compliance with Jhpiego’s Procurement Manual, U.S. Department of State requirements, and Burundian regulations.

Required profile

• Experience in procurement planning, forecasting, and contract management.
• Familiarity with procurement of pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and temperature‑sensitive products.
• Knowledge of compliance standards for international NGOs and local regulations.
• Ability to work with cross‑functional teams and support technical forecasting needs.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to internal controls.
