About the role
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience at Saint Louis University School of Medicine seeks a postdoctoral fellow to join a multidisciplinary team investigating suicide and self‑harm epidemiology, prevention, and related mental‑health issues. The fellow will contribute to ongoing projects while developing an independent research agenda aligned with departmental goals.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct quantitative research on the epidemiology of suicide, self‑harm, and associated mental‑health outcomes.
- Develop and evaluate suicide‑prevention and intervention strategies.
- Design studies, collect and analyze data, and interpret findings in collaboration with faculty and staff.
- Prepare reports, manuscripts, and conference presentations for peer‑reviewed journals.
- Participate in grant writing and pursue external funding opportunities.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students involved in research projects.
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards for human‑subjects research.
Required profile
- Earned doctorate in public health, psychology, psychiatry, or a related field.
- Demonstrated research productivity or strong potential for high‑quality outputs.
- Familiarity with ethical considerations for research involving human participants.
Required skills
- Proficiency in statistical software such as Stata, R, or SAS.
- Strong quantitative research methods background.
