Postdoctoral Fellow – Hemostasis & Thrombosis

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our laboratory at Saint Louis University and investigate the molecular mechanisms of blood clotting proteins in hemostasis, thrombosis and related cardiovascular disorders. The position offers a collaborative environment with access to state‑of‑the‑art cell and animal facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute independent experiments using molecular, cellular and biochemical techniques.
• Isolate and culture blood‑derived cells, endothelial cells and other relevant cell types.
• Perform and analyze Western blots, qPCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry and coagulation assays.
• Conduct in vivo studies in mice, including tail‑vein injections, blood collection and surgical procedures.
• Prepare abstracts, manuscripts, and contribute to grant proposals.
• Present findings at conferences and internal meetings.
• Maintain detailed laboratory records and ensure compliance with ethical regulations.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biomedical Sciences or a related field.
• Demonstrated research productivity or strong potential for high‑impact publications.
• Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Mammalian cell culture and transfection.
• Recombinant protein expression and enzyme kinetics.
• Western blotting, quantitative PCR, ELISA.
• Flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry.
• Coagulation and other functional assays.
• Animal handling and surgical techniques in mice.
• Data analysis, scientific writing and presentation.
