About this opportunity
The Safety engineer reports to the Process, Compliance and Analytics Manager on the Operational Efficiency team within the US 5G Smart Factory (EFA).
The Industrial Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring that products are designed and manufactured in a way that meets all relevant safety standards and regulations. Must be an expert in electrical safety standards and OSHA requirements and be knowledgeable about the manufacturing processes in the Smart Factory and be able to determine applicability of regulations and laws to ensure compliance.
A technical expert able to review documentation for new equipment and, changes to existing equipment, evaluating if in compliance with OSHA standards and Ericsson technical specifications. This includes developing and implementing associated safety policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, support training needs for personnel in safety protocols, and performing regular safety audits.
What you will do
Evaluate equipment schematics assessing if in compliance with OSHA regulations, other applicable safety regulations and Ericsson specifications.
Work in a cross-function environment creating system requirements and performing risk analyses and mitigations for equipment safety issues early in the design/development process.
Conduct research to evaluate safety levels for manufacturing equipment.
Develop and conduct tests to make sure that various products are safe and follow industry or government safety regulations.
Provide guidance to and create policy for the safe development, build and testing of new equipment and technologies.
Collaborate with teams ensuring designs are implemented, verified, and validated according to systems requirements and safety targets.
Develop, implement, and maintain equipment safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations
Integrate accepted safety and health principles and practices into a particular task or job operation using job safety analysis (JSA), job hazard analysis (JHA) to identify potential hazards and to recommend the safest way to do the job.
Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, federal, and international laws regarding health, safety, environmental protection.
Support investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses associate with equipment to determine root cause(s) and recommend corrective actions when associated
Conduct regular equipment safety inspections of the manufacturing facility. Promote, understand, and strictly adhere to all safety, environmental, and quality guidelines without deviation.
Support production engineering and automation teams with safety compliance.
You will bring
4+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Safety Engineer or similar role
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Occupational Health & Safety or a related field
Extensive OSHA regulation knowledge
ISO Lead Auditor certification with knowledge of 9001, 14001 & 45001
Ability to solve challenges independently
Critical thinking and observation skills
This role reports to the Manager of Process & Compliance Analytics.
