About the role
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a qualified Medical Doctor to lead the Basic Health Centre and deliver primary health care services to the local population. The role involves managing daily clinical activities, ensuring high‑quality care, and supporting community health initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct clinical care and coordinate with clinical staff to deliver comprehensive primary health services.
- Manage medical, pediatric, and obstetric emergencies, arranging appropriate handover and referrals.
- Record all patient consultations and treatments accurately.
- Oversee quality of care, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and best practices.
- Promote health and hygiene education to patients and caregivers.
- Implement infection prevention and control measures and monitor staff compliance.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and conduct consultations with dignity and respect.
- Foster teamwork, provide mentorship and on‑the‑job training to health facility staff.
- Support the Health Manager in organizing community meetings and strengthening relationships with local committees.
- Supervise technical and administrative aspects of the clinic, including inventory tracking and procurement of medical supplies.
- Train community volunteers in health promotion, mobilization and awareness‑raising.
- Represent the program in local stakeholder meetings and collaborate with government agencies.
Required profile
- Medical Doctor qualification and appropriate licensing.
