Market Analytics Manager – Power & Energy

About the role

The Market Analytics Manager will strengthen AboitizPower’s capability to model and analyse power markets, providing insights that guide long‑term strategic and investment decisions. This role blends quantitative expertise with strategic thinking to interpret market trends, price trajectories, technology shifts, and policy developments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, calibrate and maintain power market and price forecasting models, including capacity expansion, dispatch and statistical models.
• Create long‑term scenarios that capture strategic uncertainties and define macro‑economic assumptions such as GDP, interest rates, inflation and exchange rates.
• Challenge and refine assumptions from other SMEs to ensure realistic model inputs.
• Maintain model robustness, transparency and auditability through version control, documentation and validation.
• Automate analytical workflows using Python, R, Power BI, Excel VBA or SQL.
• Lead deep‑dive analyses of policy, regulatory and technological developments affecting market structures and investment competitiveness.
• Translate complex technical analyses into clear strategic implications for senior management and the Board.
• Partner with business units and Finance to align market views across the enterprise.
• Build modelling capabilities within the Strategy team and drive continuous improvement of tools and data governance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Marketing or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in corporate planning, business development, consulting, investment banking or equity research.
• At least 2 years of experience in electricity market modelling using tools such as EMCAS, Marketsym, Quafu or PLEXOS.
• Experience in business plan development/evaluation and familiarity with emerging energy technologies is preferred.
