Interpreter – Fur

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Fur Interpreter to provide accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation services for Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals and their service providers. The role supports a variety of settings, including clinics, schools, community organizations, and government agencies, and may be performed in‑person, by phone, or via video conference.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality interpretation for Fur‑speaking clients in diverse environments such as clinics, hospitals, schools, and community‑based organizations.
• Provide interpretation remotely via telephone, videoconference, or other virtual platforms as needed.
• Track all assignments and work hours using the organization’s designated software.
• Participate in required trainings, assessments, and occasional special projects.
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisors.

Required profile

• High school diploma strongly preferred; interpretation certification preferred.
• Relevant professional interpretation experience, especially with refugee or immigrant populations, is highly valued.
• Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to build trust with clients and partners.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written) and native‑level spoken proficiency in Fur.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Reliable transportation to reach appointment locations.

Required skills
