About the role
The International Social Development and Gender Specialist will support the design and implementation of community‑based solid waste and tourism programmes, ensuring that women and vulnerable groups are fully integrated. The role involves data collection, analysis, stakeholder engagement and alignment with engineering and safeguard requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Provide input into the design of social surveys and focus group discussions (FGDs).
- Contribute to community‑based solid waste schemes and tourism plans with a gender‑sensitive approach.
- Ensure public awareness and behaviour‑change campaigns target women and vulnerable groups.
- Participate in inception meetings, collect, review and analyse relevant data.
- Conduct site visits, stakeholder engagement and household surveys.
- Support finalisation of survey tools, fieldwork planning and stakeholder mapping.
- Undertake situation assessment, needs prioritisation and co‑design stakeholder workshops.
- Provide input into technical and financial screening of options and ensure alignment with engineering, safeguards and ADB due‑diligence requirements.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience designing communications and behaviour‑change campaigns, preferably in the Solomon Islands.
