About the role
The HSSE Manager will lead health, safety, sustainability and environmental activities for a large construction/mining project, reporting directly to the Project Director. The role ensures compliance with legislation, employer requirements and international standards while fostering a safe, environmentally‑responsible culture.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, implement and continuously improve the Project HSSE Plan.
- Monitor compliance with HSSE procedures, regulations, standards and contractual obligations.
- Advise project teams on HSSE risks, mitigation measures and plan implementation.
- Ensure HSSE personnel are qualified, trained and competent.
- Prepare and distribute HSSE documentation such as procedures, risk assessments and emergency response plans.
- Conduct inspections, audits, investigations and compliance reviews, including for subcontractors.
- Report, investigate and close incidents, accidents, near‑misses and non‑conformances.
- Coordinate HSSE matters with the employer, engineer, authorities and other stakeholders.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Technical certification in Occupational Safety and Health (mandatory).
- 5‑10 years of experience in similar HSSE roles on construction or mining projects.
- Fluency in French and/or English.
- Strong communication, leadership and conflict‑management abilities.
- Willingness to travel as required.
Required skills
- Proficiency with ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards and audits.
- Advanced use of MS Office.
- Experience with SAP (preferred).
