About the role
Under general direction, the Flight Instructor (PRN) provides high-quality flight instruction for Saint Louis University’s professional pilot programs. The role involves maintaining personal flight proficiency, adhering to FAA regulations, and continuously improving teaching methods.
Key responsibilities
- Participate in standardization training for each course and equipment used.
- Conduct scheduled flight lessons, ensuring completion per the Training Course Outline and proper endorsements in student flight logs.
- Submit stage-check requests after each training stage and verify all flight documentation is complete.
- Perform aircraft handling duties such as pulling aircraft in/out of the hangar and tie-down assistance.
- Assist with departmental activities, attend meetings, and perform other assigned duties.
Required profile
- Certified Flight Instructor – Airplane (CFI) – required.
- CFII or MEI certificate – preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree – preferred.
- Valid FAA medical certificate.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, analytical problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
Required skills
- CFI certification.
- Knowledge of flight instruction instrumentation and equipment.
- Familiarity with FAA regulations and standardization procedures.
What we offer
- PRN pay rate of $30 per hour.
- 403(b) retirement savings plan (no match).
- Full-time schedule of 40 hours per week.
