Employment & Skill-Building Intern (Summer 2026)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a motivated intern to support its Refugee TANF Coordination Program during the summer of 2026. You will work directly with employment specialists to help humanitarian immigrant families navigate benefits, develop job‑readiness skills, and secure sustainable employment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess new clients and create individualized employment plans and pre‑employment budgets.
• Facilitate bulk Zoom or in‑person skill‑building sessions covering job readiness, interview techniques, digital literacy, public transport, childcare options, driver’s licenses, GED courses, and credential evaluation.
• Assist clients with public benefit applications, follow‑up calls, and referrals to internal and external service providers.
• Develop personalized resumes and cover letters, identify job leads, and complete applications alongside clients.
• Research potential employer partners, conduct outreach, and maintain partnership records.
• Enter service data electronically, organize client documentation, and support reporting requirements.
• Perform additional tasks assigned by the RTCP team.

Required profile

• Current undergraduate or graduate student, or a recent graduate (within 12 months).
• Available to work full‑time during the summer of 2026.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Zoom for virtual sessions.
• Experience with electronic data entry.
