Electrical & Embedded Systems Engineer

About the role

Join Lam Research’s Controls Engineering team to design embedded systems that bridge software with electro‑mechanical hardware on wafer fabrication equipment. You will contribute to next‑generation semiconductor solutions and drive integration of new technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product groups to align requirements and define common architectures.
• Design and develop custom low‑voltage analog, high‑speed, and embedded PCB solutions.
• Manage the full PCB lifecycle from schematic capture through routing, fabrication, and system integration.
• Lead deliverables and, when needed, guide a team of engineers to meet project milestones.
• Integrate and validate designs within larger systems, including on‑tool troubleshooting.
• Present design and validation results to stakeholders and promote control‑system commonality across flat‑panel products.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience with a B.S. in Electrical/Computer Engineering (or 6+ years with an M.S.).
• Proven expertise in low‑voltage electrical design and complete PCB development processes.
• Strong background in embedded‑system design, processor architectures, and standard interfaces.
• Ability to work with international, cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Low‑voltage PCB design, component selection, schematic capture, routing, and design validation.
• Embedded systems development, understanding of memory buses (eMMC, DDR) and serial interfaces (SPI, I2C, 1 GbE, PCIe).
• PCB fabrication knowledge and troubleshooting from system to component level.
• Programming in C/C++.
• HDL proficiency (Verilog, VHDL).
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, LonWorks, CANBus, DeviceNet) – a plus.
