About the role
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a reliable Driver to transport staff, visitors, documents and goods safely and efficiently within the operational area. This role supports humanitarian missions by ensuring timely movement of personnel and materials while upholding IRC’s professional standards.
Key responsibilities
- Provide safe and efficient transportation for IRC personnel and materials.
- Maintain the cleanliness, fuel level, and mechanical condition of assigned vehicles.
- Conduct daily pre‑trip and long‑distance vehicle inspections and complete accurate log‑sheet entries.
- Inspect and maintain vehicle accessories and report any defects to the Fleet Manager.
- Represent IRC in a professional manner during all interactions.
Required profile
- Valid driving licence with at least two years of professional driving experience.
- No road‑safety related fines or convictions.
- Ability to pass the IRC driving test and demonstrate safe driving skills.
- Team spirit, problem‑solving ability and capacity to work unsupervised.
- Willingness to adhere strictly to IRC vehicle policies, including seat‑belt use for all passengers.
Required skills
- Thorough knowledge of road rules and regulations.
- Vehicle operation expertise, including 4x4 and manual‑gear vehicles.
- Routine vehicle maintenance skills.
- Knowledge of HF, VHF and satellite communications equipment (or ability to learn quickly).
- Basic computer skills.
