About the role
The International Rescue Committee seeks a qualified Dinka Interpreter to provide accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation for Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals across a range of service settings. Work may be performed in‑person, by telephone, video conference, or other virtual platforms, supporting clinics, schools, community organizations, and government agencies.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver precise interpretation for Dinka‑speaking clients and service providers in various environments.
- Record assignments and work hours using designated software.
- Participate in training sessions and performance assessments.
- Assist with special projects and initiatives as needed.
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisors.
Required profile
- High school diploma (strongly preferred) and, if available, an interpretation certification.
- Professional interpretation experience, especially with refugee or immigrant populations.
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to build trust.
- Reliable transportation to reach appointment locations.
Required skills
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written) and fluent spoken Dinka.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
