About the role
We are seeking a Court Registry Officer to join the Hamilton District Court team on a fixed‑term basis until January 2027. The role supports the smooth operation of the court, interacting with judges, jurors, and the public while ensuring case information is accurate and timely.
Key responsibilities
- Provide front‑line customer service in person, by phone and email, handling court‑related enquiries.
- Assist with court taking, including introducing judges in English and Te Reo Māori, managing jurors and supporting courtroom and chambers activities.
- Oversee case management tasks, ensuring judges and parties have the necessary information and logistics for hearings.
- Exercise Deputy Registrar powers as required.
- Travel to other Waikato courts when needed, holding a clean New Zealand driver’s licence.
Required profile
- Detail‑oriented with strong observational skills to maintain accurate court records.
- Self‑aware and able to work both independently and as part of a team across varied situations.
- Capable of multitasking and handling conflicting priorities efficiently.
- Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to changing legislation and court processes.
- Resilient when dealing with sensitive cases and high‑volume periods.
Required skills
- Valid, clean New Zealand driver’s licence.
