Application Architect

About the role

We are looking for an Application Architect to join a well‑established New Zealand‑based technology consultancy. The role sits close to engineering, guiding the evolution of a large Microsoft .NET application ecosystem while ensuring stability and long‑term maintainability.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve application architecture across legacy and modern .NET platforms.
• Design API and integration patterns, including REST and messaging, to keep teams productive.
• Create versioned contracts for frontend teams, primarily using Angular.
• Prioritise modernisation work, balancing risk and delivery momentum.
• Raise engineering standards through clean architecture, DDD, testing, CI/CD and code‑quality practices.
• Facilitate workshops, mentor squads and act as the calm technical voice in client discussions.
• Support and guide engineers and emerging architects to build stronger teams.

Required profile

• Strong consultancy background with the ability to enter new environments quickly.
• Excellent communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Proven influence without formal authority and pragmatic approach to best practices.
