About the role
We are looking for an Application Architect to join a well‑established New Zealand‑based technology consultancy. The role sits close to engineering, guiding the evolution of a large Microsoft .NET application ecosystem while ensuring stability and long‑term maintainability.
Key responsibilities
- Define and evolve application architecture across legacy and modern .NET platforms.
- Design API and integration patterns, including REST and messaging, to keep teams productive.
- Create versioned contracts for frontend teams, primarily using Angular.
- Prioritise modernisation work, balancing risk and delivery momentum.
- Raise engineering standards through clean architecture, DDD, testing, CI/CD and code‑quality practices.
- Facilitate workshops, mentor squads and act as the calm technical voice in client discussions.
- Support and guide engineers and emerging architects to build stronger teams.
Required profile
- Strong consultancy background with the ability to enter new environments quickly.
- Excellent communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Proven influence without formal authority and pragmatic approach to best practices.
Required skills
- .NET Framework and modern .NET
- API design (REST, messaging) and governance
- Angular frontend integration
- Azure PaaS services and integration tooling
- Domain‑Driven Design (DDD) and clean architecture
- CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
- Security fundamentals (authentication, secure API design)
