Anesthesia Doctor – Al Kufra

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a qualified Anesthesia Doctor to provide safe, high‑quality anesthesia services for surgical, obstetric and emergency procedures at its health facilities in Al Kufra, Libya. The role includes pre‑operative assessment, intra‑operative management, post‑operative monitoring and pain management, while adhering to patient safety and infection‑prevention standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver anesthesia care for surgical, obstetric and emergency cases, including pre‑operative evaluation, intra‑operative management and post‑operative monitoring.
• Support emergency and critical‑care services, providing airway management, resuscitation and care for critically ill patients.
• Ensure compliance with national guidelines, organizational protocols, patient‑safety standards and infection‑prevention measures.
• Promote rational use of anesthetic drugs and manage related medical supplies.
• Maintain functionality and safety of anesthesia equipment.

Required profile

• Medical degree with specialization in anesthesia.
• Experience delivering anesthesia in surgical and emergency settings.
• Ability to work in remote, underserved environments and collaborate with surgeons, medical teams and Ministry of Health staff.
• Familiarity with national clinical guidelines and humanitarian health standards.
