Accountant – Finance & Reporting

About the role

MSALABS, a provider of geochemical laboratory services for the exploration and mining sectors, is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its finance team in Ebene, Mauritius. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support group financials, budgeting, and regional reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare cash plans, analyse and allocate payments and receipts.
• File and reconcile country tax returns, ensuring timely payments.
• Prepare month‑end P&L and balance sheet and review results with operating managers.
• Reconcile payroll clearing accounts and process inter‑company entries.
• Develop and maintain budgets and forecasts, monitoring cost adherence.
• Update cash books, manage petty cash and monitor daily bank balances.
• Handle revenue collection, weekly accounts receivable and vendor queries.
• Record asset capitalisation, disposals, transfers and reconcile fixed‑asset accounts.
• Maintain up‑to‑date files, support auditors and ensure IFRS‑compliant financial statements.
• Oversee compliance with statutory accounting procedures and report breaches.
• Produce regular financial reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual) for stakeholders.

Required profile

• Partly qualified ACCA (Level 2) or equivalent degree.
• Minimum 5 years of professional accounting/finance experience.
• At least 2 years in the mining or manufacturing industry.
• Experience in an international environment is an advantage.
• Bilingual in English and French with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexible to work outside normal hours when required.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of ERP systems.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong understanding of IFRS accounting standards.
