About the role
The Senior Research Assistant will join a newly established neuroscience laboratory at Saint Louis University, focusing on microglia, myelination, and neurodegenerative disease research. This full‑time position supports investigators by conducting moderately complex experiments, maintaining lab equipment, and contributing to data analysis and manuscript preparation.
Key responsibilities
- Assist and independently conduct research projects under the Principal Investigator’s guidance.
- Manage mouse colony activities, including breeding, genotyping, and injections.
- Prepare culture media, reagents, and maintain primary and immortalized cell cultures.
- Perform molecular and cellular assays, histology, and immunohistochemistry, and interpret results.
- Lead lab management tasks such as ordering supplies, organizing space, and minor equipment repairs.
- Compile, process, and analyze experimental data; maintain accurate records.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with standard computer applications.
