Remote Medical Coder

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will apply US or UK coding standards to ensure accurate reimbursement and compliance across inpatient and outpatient records.

Key responsibilities

• Review patient records, operative reports, discharge summaries, and outpatient notes to assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes.
• Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with federal, state, NHS, and payer guidelines.
• Identify documentation gaps, query clinicians, and resolve coding errors.
• Optimize reimbursement by correcting claim denials and maintaining data integrity.
• Participate in audits and stay current with coding guideline updates.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hospital coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or equivalent UK certification.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
• Reliable computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+), high‑speed internet, and a verified backup power supply.

Required skills

• ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, HCPCS coding standards.
• OPCS‑4, SNOMED CT coding standards.
• Experience with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web, and SystmOne.
