Remote Medical Coder – Hospital Coding Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a highly meticulous and experienced Remote Medical Coder to join our dynamic healthcare team. The specialist will work from a secure home office, reviewing complex patient records and assigning accurate diagnostic and procedural codes in compliance with US or UK standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze inpatient and outpatient medical records, operative reports, discharge summaries, and outpatient notes.
• Assign appropriate ICD-10‑CM, CPT, HCPCS, OPCS‑4, or SNOMED CT codes based on the applicable coding system.
• Ensure all coding complies with federal, state, NHS, and payer‑specific guidelines for accurate revenue cycle management.
• Identify documentation gaps, query physicians or clinical staff, and resolve coding errors to prevent claim denials.
• Maintain data integrity through regular audits and stay current with coding guideline updates.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hospital medical coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (e.g., CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or the recognized UK equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
• Proficiency with Electronic Health Record systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web, or SystmOne.
• Reliable computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+), high‑speed internet, and a UPS or generator backup.
