Remote Medical Coder – Full‑time (US/UK)

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will apply US or UK coding standards to complex patient records, ensuring accurate reimbursement and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Review inpatient and outpatient medical records, including operative reports and discharge summaries.
• Assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes (ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, HCPCS, OPCS‑4, SNOMED CT).
• Verify coding accuracy against federal, state, NHS and payer guidelines.
• Identify documentation gaps and query clinicians for clarification.
• Correct coding errors, resolve claim denials, and support revenue‑cycle optimization.
• Participate in audits and maintain high data‑integrity standards.
• Stay current with coding guideline updates and compliance regulations.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hospital coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or equivalent UK credential.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pharmacology.
• Reliable computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+) with secure remote‑desktop capability.
• High‑speed internet and a verified backup power supply.
• Quiet, HIPAA/GDPR‑compliant workspace.

Required skills

• US coding standards: ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, HCPCS.
• UK coding standards: ICD‑10, OPCS‑4, SNOMED CT.
• Electronic Health Record systems: Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web, SystmOne.
