Inspector of Works – Tunnel Boring Machine

About the role

The Inspector of Works – Tunnel Boring Machine will join the MSKC Joint Venture team responsible for the design and construction supervision of the Polihali Transfer Tunnel, part of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project Phase II. Reporting to the Senior Inspector/Section Engineer (TBM), the role supports all TBM inspection activities and ensures compliance with contract documents, standards, and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect the whole of the works to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
• Monitor TBM construction activities, ensuring procedures, materials, and workmanship meet project standards.
• Review drawings and plans for alignment with project specifications and flag any discrepancies.
• Ensure contractor teams conduct Toolbox Talks, DSTIs, and task‑based risk assessments.
• Prepare daily diaries, document inspections, photograph work conditions, and share records with senior engineers.
• Promote safe execution of works by contractors and subcontractors.

Required profile

• BSc/B Eng, B Tech or National Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in tunnelling or civil engineering works, preferably with TBM operations.
• Experience in water‑related tunnelling projects is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
