Graphic Artist – Media & Printing Services for US Navy MWR

About the role

We are looking for a Graphic Artist to run the arts, graphic and media centre for a US Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) program on Diego Garcia. The role combines design, printing and engraving services with marketing support for MWR activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide custom printing services such as T‑shirts, sports uniforms, brass trophy and plaque plates.
• Interpret customer design orders and create personalized graphics using CAD and graphic‑design tools.
• Produce a monthly colour MWR newsletter and ensure government approval before distribution.
• Submit event information to island‑wide publications (Plan of the Day, Tropical Times, Naval Media Center, etc.).
• Maintain and operate printing, engraving and graphic‑design equipment, keeping accurate order records.
• Deliver artistic input for marketing initiatives and support MWR staff to increase visibility of events.
• Continuously improve services by staying current with design trends and technology.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of experience in graphic design, media production or related arts field.
• High school diploma or equivalent; certifications or formal education in graphic design, arts or marketing preferred.
• Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects and maintain high quality standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software.
• Experience using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or CorelDRAW.
• Hands‑on operation of printing machines and engraving equipment.
