General Maintenance Utility Worker

About the role

Saint Louis University is seeking a General Maintenance Utility Worker to support the campus facilities team. Under general supervision you will assist Maintenance A workers in completing routine and non‑routine work orders, providing timely service to faculty, staff and students.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to service calls and emergency requests, prioritising and escalating issues when needed.
• Perform basic repairs to walls, floors, ceilings, windows, doors, including patching, painting, caulking and general upkeep.
• Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, hardware and furniture components.
• Conduct light troubleshooting of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems and report problems requiring specialist attention.
• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance inspections and maintain equipment such as sump pumps, filters and fans.
• Document work performed, maintain accurate records and report safety concerns.
• Support special events, room setups and occasional on‑call shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class E driver’s licence.
• Ability to work flexible hours and be on‑call for emergencies.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb, climb ladders and work in varied indoor/outdoor conditions.
