Cost Research Advisor

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Cost Research Advisor to lead and contribute to cost analyses, synthesize cost evidence, and provide technical assistance across its humanitarian programs. This individual contributor role supports evidence‑informed decision‑making within the Best Use of Resources (BUR) team.

Key responsibilities

• Refine learning agendas and research questions in collaboration with IRC colleagues for specific interventions.
• Conduct cost‑efficiency, cost‑effectiveness analyses, and scenario modeling.
• Develop, maintain, and update program‑specific data sets.
• Synthesize internal and external cost evidence to assess program cost‑effectiveness and identify parameters for impact.
• Develop organizational learnings and recommendations for targeted outcome areas.
• Provide ongoing technical assistance to IRC staff and partner organizations to inform decisions with cost evidence.
• Support proposal development to enhance cost‑effectiveness of program designs.
• Re‑package evidence into user‑friendly tools and collaborate with advocacy teams to translate findings into external collateral.
• Contribute to reporting, write reports, deliver presentations, and support communications staff.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to lead and conduct cost research and analysis.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience synthesizing quantitative and qualitative evidence.
• Collaborative approach to work with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and presenting findings.
