Compliance Associate – AML/CFT Audit

About the role

The Compliance Associate will support senior auditors in conducting independent AML/CFT audits of financial institutions in Mauritius. You will work with the FIAMLA, FIAML Regulations 2018 and the FSC AML/CFT Handbook to ensure audit quality and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist seniors in performing independent AML/CFT audits of financial institutions, reviewing programmes, policies and procedures.
• Conduct walkthroughs of business processes, identify AML/CFT risks and design risk‑control matrices.
• Test design, implementation and operating effectiveness of controls as per the risk‑control matrix.
• Prepare audit samples for shareholders, transactions, eligible introducers, omnibus accounts, PEPs, beneficial owners, etc.
• Assess adequacy of customer due‑diligence and enhanced‑diligence procedures, especially for high‑risk products, services, customers and geographies.
• Perform sample testing on inbound and outbound remittances and review suspicious transaction reporting.
• Escalate issues that may compromise audit deliverables to seniors and unit heads.
• Attend meetings to discuss audit queries and present findings to stakeholders.
• Document preliminary observations, draft the independent AML/CFT audit report and management letter.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Ability to work under senior guidance and collaborate with audit teams.
• Good written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings and presenting to stakeholders.
• Understanding of AML/CFT regulatory frameworks and audit methodologies.
