About the role
The Cards Acquiring Manager will lead the acquisition of new profitable merchants across POS, SoftPOS, digital payment solutions, e‑commerce and wallet channels. You will build long‑term relationships, drive transaction volume and revenue growth, and ensure a high level of customer service.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and acquire new merchants in key segments such as SMEs, corporates and online retailers.
- Manage the full merchant lifecycle, from onboarding and POS terminal installation to training and ongoing support.
- Monitor merchant turnover to maximise share‑of‑wallet and minimise dormant accounts.
- Collaborate with Corporate and Business Banking teams, as well as International Banking Relationship Managers, to generate cross‑sell opportunities.
- Support the rollout of new products by building business cases, coordinating testing and overseeing local implementation.
- Analyse merchant segmentation and recommend targeted product activities aligned with the consumer function strategy.
- Lead, motivate and develop the Cards Merchant Representatives, Advisors and Operations Support teams.
Required profile
- Proven experience in merchant acquisition, payments or related sales functions.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with corporate, SME and e‑commerce clients.
- Ability to manage risk, control processes and ensure compliance.
- Leadership capability to inspire and guide a team of merchant representatives and operations staff.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a customer‑focused mindset.
