Capital Works Operator – Queenstown

About the role

The Capital Works Operator will join Veolia's capital works team on site in Queenstown, delivering safe and efficient infrastructure projects that meet contractual and legislative requirements. This role focuses on the execution of capital works across water and wastewater assets, ensuring high‑quality outcomes for the community.

Key responsibilities

• Support the capital works team to complete project deliverables safely, efficiently and on schedule.
• Execute all phases of capital works projects from establishment through to completion.
• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and implement safety measures to maintain a zero‑harm environment.
• Coordinate with the Team Lead, contractors and internal departments to ensure seamless project execution and clear communication.
• Maintain accurate on‑site project documentation and uphold the highest quality standards.

Required profile

• Combination of education, training and hands‑on trade experience.
• Relevant experience in the water or wastewater industry is preferred.
• Proven ability to build working relationships with colleagues and contractors.
• Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Motivation, attention to detail and a strong customer‑service orientation.

Required skills

• Excavator operation
• Class 2 truck driving
• Class 4 truck driving
• Civil works
• Fault finding on 3‑waters infrastructure
