Associate Tax Consultant

About the role

The Associate Tax Consultant will support the Tax Department in delivering high‑quality tax compliance and advisory services for clients in Mauritius. You will work closely with internal teams and external tax authorities to ensure accurate filing, timely responses, and continuous improvement of tax processes.

Key responsibilities

• Review, file and sign off PAYE, TDS, VAT computations and returns.
• Coordinate quarterly and annual tax return filing for all Sanne Mauritius clients.
• Maintain taxation processes and provide internal training on tax updates.
• Offer technical tax support to client service units and prepare tax technical papers, procedures and FAQs.
• Handle MRA queries: review, draft replies, liaise with clients and attend meetings with MRA officers.
• Assist in drafting applications for tax rulings and written representations to the ARC.
• Monitor changes in tax legislation, analyse implications and implement necessary updates.
• Oversee unit deliverables, manage resources, review timesheets and ensure quality of client outputs.
• Identify training needs, mentor team members and drive continuous process improvement.
• Manage operational risks, propose mitigation actions and maintain a risk‑minimisation mindset.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of Mauritius tax regulations (PAYE, TDS, VAT) and compliance requirements.
• Experience reviewing and responding to tax authority queries.
• Ability to coordinate multiple client filings and meet strict deadlines.
• Proactive attitude towards risk identification and process optimisation.
• Excellent communication skills for client liaison and internal training.
