Associate Editor – Discover Journals (Chemistry)

About the role

Springer Nature is seeking an Associate Editor for its Discover Journals portfolio in Chemistry. The role focuses on launching new journals, developing editorial strategies, and ensuring high‑quality, rapid peer‑review processes while delivering excellent author service.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the on‑schedule launch of new chemistry journals, meeting board and content thresholds.
• Develop and execute journal development strategies for a defined portfolio.
• Oversee editorial handling of manuscripts at all review stages.
• Collaborate with internal teams, external editors, and the scientific community to drive journal growth.
• Identify and propose new journal concepts in the chemistry domain.
• Engage potential authors directly or via editorial boards to attract high‑impact submissions.

Required profile

• Experience in academic publishing or editorial management, preferably in chemistry or related sciences.
• Strong understanding of peer‑review processes and journal development.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a cross‑functional team.
