Assistant General Manager

About the role

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is a senior leader within Holt Renfrew’s luxury retail environment. Reporting to the DVP/GM, the AGM drives commercial performance, enhances the client experience, and leads a high‑performing sales management team to meet store sales and EBIT objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the DVP/GM to set and achieve top‑line sales and EBIT targets.
• Manage payroll, capital, and expense budgets while ensuring compliance with financial controls.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop top talent across the store.
• Lead, motivate, and retain a high‑performing sales management team, providing coaching and performance feedback.
• Recognize and reward extraordinary performance and implement performance improvement plans as needed.
• Drive customer service excellence, resolve complex client issues, and grow high‑value customer relationships.
• Implement customer relationship and loyalty programs and contribute to seasonal and strategic planning.
• Oversee back‑of‑house operations including cash office, alterations, maintenance, and logistics.
• Serve as Manager in Charge (MIC) when required and ensure health and safety compliance.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in a luxury or high‑end retail setting.
• Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales and profitability targets.
• Strong people‑management skills with a focus on talent development and retention.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to foster a culture of openness and trust.
• Strategic mindset with experience in store planning, budgeting, and operational oversight.
