Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator (DRC)

About the role

Amentum is looking for a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator (DRC) to support a critical US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The operator will run and maintain a small rapid sand filter plant and a reverse osmosis system, ensuring safe and compliant water production on rotating shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and perform preventative maintenance on rapid sand filter and reverse osmosis equipment.
• Adjust chemical dosing, record operating data, and respond to water‑quality changes.
• Collect water samples and conduct routine chlorine, turbidity, coliform, and bacteria (Colilert) analyses.
• Perform minor repairs on pumps, injection systems, and analytical instruments.
• Follow water‑quality regulations, safety policies, and company procedures.
• Assist maintenance staff with major mechanical issues and mentor less‑experienced personnel.
• Maintain a clean, organized plant environment and ensure smooth shift handovers.

Required profile

• Minimum five years experience operating and maintaining facultative or aerated wastewater ponds.
• Completed coursework in wastewater system operations and maintenance.
• Valid US wastewater Grade II or III operator license (or equivalent experience).
• Ability to perform accurate laboratory work and follow written procedures.
• Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Strong English reading, writing, and communication skills.
