Senior Director, Economic Recovery & Development

About the role

The Senior Director, Economic Recovery and Development (ERD) leads the IRC’s global portfolio of economic wellbeing programs across crisis, recovery and post‑crisis contexts. Reporting to the Technical Excellence leadership team, this senior position shapes strategy, drives innovation and represents the organization at the highest levels.

Key responsibilities

• Define and communicate a strategic vision for the Economic Wellbeing portfolio, identifying core competencies and emerging opportunities.
• Provide thought leadership internally and externally, influencing global dialogue on livelihoods, cash‑based interventions and financial inclusion.
• Lead the ERD Technical Unit, fostering research, learning and evidence‑based practice.
• Partner with regional and country leaders to ensure program design is contextually relevant, adaptive and high‑impact.
• Collaborate across Technical Excellence to integrate program models, shape policy and guide resource allocation.
• Represent IRC with donors, governments and peer agencies to influence agendas and expand funding.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in economic recovery, development or humanitarian programming.
• Proven ability to provide strategic direction and thought leadership in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Strong track record of influencing policy, securing partnerships and driving innovation.
• Excellent communication and representation skills at global and donor levels.
